The Frits A.F.C. Went building, also known as 'punched card', has been designed by architect T. Koolhaas and was built between 1970 en 1974.

The building's name derived from Friedrich Went (1863-1935), a Dutch professor of botany and director of the Botanical Garden at the University of Utrecht. He is mainly known for his work on plant hormones.
