Multivariate Analysis of Vibrational Spectra
(MCR, PCA, PLS, CLS etc.)

9 March 2009

This one day course focuses on theoretical and especially practical aspects of applying multivariate data analysis to vibrational spectra (quantitative and explorative).

Subjects to be handled:

- sample selection and preparation for quantitative analysis
- scanning conditions and accessories
- explorative data analysis (Principal Component Analysis)
- spectrum pre-processing
- matrix calculus
- multivariate regression methods like CLS, ILS, MCR, PCA, PCR and PLS.
- model validation
- outlier detection

The course aims for people that collect large data sets (e.g. imaging) and those planning to perform quantitative measurements in (N)IR and/or Raman. The course consists of interactive lectures and demonstrations.

The course takes 1 day (09.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 17.00 h). The course will be held at the Utrecht University Science Park ("De Uithof").

The registration fee for this course is € 490,- (no VAT). The fee includes all tuition, course lecture notes, lunches and refreshments. PhD students recieve a reduction of 30% on the course fee.

The number of participants per course is limited to 10.

Course language contingent on the participants; course material in English.
Course co-ordination:
